Fractional COO FAQ

Straight answers to the questions trades and home-service owners ask before working with a fractional COO.

What is a fractional COO?

A fractional COO is a part-time operations executive who builds and runs the systems a growing business needs, without the cost of a full-time hire. For a founder-led service company, that means assigning clear ownership of every function, setting up a weekly scorecard and meeting rhythm, documenting how the work gets done, and moving day-to-day decisions off the owner’s plate. More on what a fractional COO does.

How is a fractional COO different from a consultant or a business coach?

A consultant typically recommends, a coach typically advises, and a fractional COO installs the system and stays until the team runs it. Frontier’s standard is Built ≠ Owned: a document or process doesn’t count as done until your team uses it without you.

What does it cost to work with Frontier?

There are three ways to work together. Individual Coaching is $250 an hour. System Builds start at $2,500 per project. An Operating Partner engagement starts at $3,000 a month. See what each path includes.

What’s the difference between Coaching, System Builds and Operating Partner?

The difference is how involved Frontier is. Coaching is one-on-one time with you or a key leader. A System Build installs one defined system, like a scorecard or an org chart, and hands it off working. An Operating Partner embeds as your part-time COO and runs operations alongside your team.

How long until the business runs without me?

It depends on where the business starts and which path you choose, so we won’t promise a date before we’ve looked. The Discovery Call is where you get an honest read on your business.

What size company is Frontier for?

Frontier works with founder-led trades and home-service companies doing $500K to $10M a year, especially ones where too many decisions, problems and approvals still run through the owner.

What is the Frontier Method?

The Frontier Method is four stages, in order: Clarity → Alignment → Execution → Scale. Clarity sets the destination, Alignment assigns ownership and decisions, Execution installs the operating rhythm, and Scale transfers ownership to your team. How the Frontier Method works.

Do you work with companies outside Lubbock?

Yes. Frontier is based in Lubbock, Texas, and works with owners nationwide, virtually.
